COMPETITION CLOSING DATE: SUNDAY, 18 JANUARY 2026, 11:59PM (GMT+7 BANGKOK TIME)
The Women Ambassadors Group and women leaders of the United Nations in Thailand are holding the 6th edition of the “Ambassador for a Day” initiative, culminating in a series of events around International Women’s Day on 8 March 2026. Young people between the ages of 18 and 25 resident in Thailand are invited to take part in this initiative, with a specific outreach to the LGBTIQ+ community and young persons with disabilities, by submitting a 90-second Instagram reel through the official Instagram page of the United Nations in Thailand (@uninthailand).
This year’s theme is “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls.” Submissions should explore how to promote inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminate discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and address structural barriers to justice. The topic aligns with the priorities of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, reaffirmed through the Pact of the Future.
The winners will shadow senior female leaders (Ambassadors or UN Leaders) throughout the week of International Women's Day on 8 March 2026. Participation is required for two mandatory events: the evening reception hosted by the Ambassador of Peru in partnership with the Ambassador of Australia on 5 March 2026, and the Asia-Pacific Regional Commemoration of International Women's Day on 6 March 2026, jointly convened by ESCAP and UN Women. This offers the youth shadows an opportunity to learn firsthand about the daily leadership priorities of an Ambassador or UN Leader.
