Verified | #PledgetoPause: A COVID-19 initiative to counter misinformation
About the initiative
A SMALL SHARE CAN HAVE BIG CONSEQUENCES
The things we share online can spread like wildfire and a small share can have big consequences. Watch the short film above, join us in our mission to tackle misinformation and encourage your followers across your social channels to take care before they share.
BEFORE YOU SHARE, THINK:
• WHO made it?
• WHAT is the source?
• WHERE did it come from?
• WHY are you sharing this?
• WHEN was it published?
Verified was launched by the United Nations in response to the COVID crisis to cut through the noise to deliver life-saving information, fact-based advice and stories from the best of humanity. Like the virus itself, misinformation spreads from person-to-person, heightening the risk to health and spreading fear and division.
By promoting and sharing Verified messages, people are playing a crucial role in spreading reliable information about COVID-19 to their friends, families and social networks, with the goal of saving lives and countering misinformation.
