UN Country Team Thailand 2022 Snapshot Report
This report provides a scoping overview of how the UN in Thailand leveraged its Cooperation Framework to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2022. Twenty-one UN agencies provided cutting-edge policy advice and introduced best available technologies, including digitization, to lower greenhouse emissions, strengthen human capital development and boost social inclusion. These themes were highlighted during the 2022 ECOSOC session discussions as part of the UN Secretary-General’s commitment to reposition the UN Development System (Resolution 72/279), in accordance with the call by member States to provide annual reporting of system wide support to the SDGs and present aggregated information on system wide results.
At the present, 129 UN Country Teams (UNCT) cover 162 countries and territories where there is a UN programme. The UNCT includes all the UN entities working on sustainable development, emergency, recovery and transition, and is led by the UN Resident Coordinator, who is the representative of the UN Secretary-General in a given country. The UNCT ensures interagency coordination and is responsible for decision-making at the country level. The goal of the UNCT is to plan and work together to ensure the delivery of tangible results in support of the development agenda of the government, including the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework—which guides the development programme cycle, in joint agreement with the host government.
