About the event
Despite the high financial and human costs, mounting evidence of human rights violations, and failure to produce sustained public health and drug use outcomes, compulsory detention in the name of drug treatment remains a steadfast practice across East and Southeast Asia. Consisting of three booklets, the report documents progress and case examples of the transition from compulsory facilities for people who use drugs to voluntary community-based treatment, harm reduction and support services in the region.
Join us for the launch of the joint publication by UNODC and UNAIDS as we hear from experts, community members and parties involved in the development of the report as they share their thoughts and latest updates on compulsory drug treatment and rehabilitation in East and Southeast Asia.
