WHAT IS AMBASSADOR FOR A DAY?
The 3rd annual “Ambassador for a Day” video contest is promoting gender equality in Thailand by mobilizing young people to lend their voices to the theme of “Innovation, technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”—the priority theme of the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in 2023.
Ambassador for a Day is an initiative of the informal Women Ambassadors Group in Thailand and the women leaders of the United Nations, initiated by the Ambassadors of Canada and India.
This year, the UN and Australian Embassy are taking the lead in co-organizing the event with the support of host organizations from the diplomatic corps and UN system in Thailand. Young people in Thailand aged between 16 and 25 will be invited to compete for a chance to “shadow” an ambassador or UN women leader in their organizations and attend the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) International Women’s Day commemoration (IWD 2023) on 8 March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
