This position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Thailand. The internship is UNPAID and full-time for the duration of 3 months with an opportunity for extension up to six months if required by the office. Interns work five days per week (35 hours). This intern will report to the Communications & Advocacy Officer and will support the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO).
Responsibilities
Through multiple social media platforms in Thai and English, the incumbents will create and deliver compelling content to draw attention to the many facets of the UN’s work in Thailand, encouraging public support, participation, action, and engaged communities, focused on young people. Strong interest in social media projects, preferably with some experience in producing social media content writing and managing/moderating social media communities. Experience with large individual/influential social media profiles is desirable.
1. Generate innovative ideas and content to promote UN messages and issues on social media.
• Create social media friendly videos such as TikTok videos and Instagram reels, graphics, features, photo essays and other content for UN social media channels.
• Proofread, repackage, and optimise Thai and English language content from UN agencies, funds, and programmes or localize partners for digital distribution.
• Researching on best practices about the use of language, punctuation, grammar, and tone of voice that informs, delights, entertains, engage, and inspire social media audience by tracking popular topics.
2. Strategic insights and proactive optimization of strategies, content and channels
• Provide timely and strategic insights on content performance across various digital channels, and work with the respective teams to optimize content development and distribution processes.
• Advise on best PR practices and suggest the use of new social media features, trends and tools to optimize content performance.
3. Ongoing monitoring of and reporting on social media performance
• Proactively monitor and utilize digital analysis tools such as Facebook/Twitter/Instagram insights and Google Analytics to generate detailed monthly digital performance reports.
4. All other related duties as assigned.
• Support the RCO team other/ad hoc activities, including on technical, logistical, and administrative requirements as needed (e.g., planning meetings/workshops, event coordination, procurement, media).
Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Thai and English fluency in all four skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing is required for the internship.
