Sustainable projects tour in Loei, Thailand

On November 28-30, UNDP and UNIDO visited PAGE projects sites under the evaluation exercise in Loei Province in the Northeastern part of Thailand. UNDP and UNIDO visited the Kok-Nong-Na (Land-Water-Rice Field) project site, which aims to foster sustainable farming and non-chemical practices to support local community livelihood, and Na Pa Nard Cotton Valley, which intends to support the Tai Dum ethnic minority group in promoting greener and inclusive cotton production as an alternative income source. The visit also included a consultation workshop.

As part of the PAGE Support for Green and Inclusive Economic Recovery initiative, UNDP and UNIDO, in partnership with the NESDC are working with the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) to conduct an in-depth evaluation of the impact of projects under the 400 billion Baht Rehabilitation Fund established by the Government to advance the country’s green and inclusive development agenda. This is part of the broader objective of supporting Thailand with the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The results of the evaluation were presented in a consultation workshop in Loei Province, on 29 November. This allowed to gather feedback from representatives of the public and private sectors, civil society organizations, and the local communities on how to enhance the alignment of social and economic recovery policies with the country’s green, inclusive, and sustainable development vision.

Another round of consultation is set in January 2023, before the evaluation is finalized by the first half of the year. The results will help inform public policy formulation, including the upcoming capacity enhancement curriculum for public agencies (supported by PAGE) as well as the financing strategy for sustainable development within the Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) for Thailand.
